Need You Dead: Book Review

NEED YOU DEAD by Peter James

This gripping and gritty thriller by Peter James is a great read for those who possess Super Recognition skills, and includes in its dramatic end the use of Super Recognisers.

Lorna Belling is desperate to escape the marriage from hell, falls for the charms of a man who promises her the earth. Lorna soon finds out, life seldom follows the plans you’ve made. A chance photograph on a client’s mobile phone changes everything for her.

When the body of a woman is found in a bath in Brighton, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace is called to the scene. At first it looks like an open and shut case with a clear prime suspect.  Then other scenarios begin to present themselves, each of them tantalizingly plausible, until a sudden turn of events.  To his utter disbelief, the case turns more sinister than Grace could ever have imagined!

The Metropolitan Police Super Recogniser Unit led by DCI Mick Neville who retired from the Met in January 2017 and is now the CEO of Super Recognisers International Ltd. Mike and his team are key in solving this murder and receive an acknowledgement from the author.

A further one of Peter James’ books ‘Die if You Don’t’ published more recently also involves a Super Recogniser in the plot – this time identifying suspects leaving a football ground in Brighton, part of a complex kidnapping plot involving Albanian organised crime gangs.
